Here’s the lowdown on floods.

Flooding is one of the most frequent and widespread disasters around the world. Floods are basically an overabundance of water, which covers land thatโ€™s normally dry.

Flooding may be caused by many factors, including heavy rainfall and melting snow.ย In our state, there can be flash flooding from creeks, ditches, ponds, lakes, and streams.

Flooding can damage personal property, building, bridges, and more. Flood waters can cause power outages, downed lines, injuries, or even death.

Remember, in flood conditions, move to higher ground immediately. Talk with city managers and emergency personnel about how to protect your family and mitigate floods in your area.
